Guy who cuts his foot off in Saw movie?

Do they ever say what happened to the guy who cut off his foot in the first Saw movie? They always tell you what happened to the victims.......thanks!

Ok, Carey Elwes (Dr Lawrence Gordon) is supposedly dead. The situation that happened with the movie staff is that Elwes refused to come back and do anymore scenes as Dr Gordon. Creative differences I am sure. Darren Lynn Bousman has said on the DVD commentaries for Saw IV that his intent was to leave Dr. Gordon's fate an unanswered question and let fans make up their own minds. I always thought that it would've been ingenious if in one of the later movies (4 or 5) that Gordon ends up secretly being tested to see if he could hang with Jigsaw. Be able to teach a lesson so much to the point that he could even hurt himself. Similar to Amanda's test. I wait still for the day I see a man limp in with a prosthetic leg at the end of the series because I feel it would make more sense for autopsy reports, medicines used throughout the series, and all around twist endings the Saw series is known for to have him show up as a side assist to the whole thing. Notice how in the first movie, Adam pointed out that he really seemed to admire the guy....hmmm....
