How to remove a broken bolt?

Okay, here is the story...i am replacing the rear strut assembly on my 2004 Mercury Sable. While removing the lower bolt (holding it to the Hub / Frame assembly) I snapped the end of the bolt off...I ground down the bolt and attempted to drill out and extract the bolt...thats where i made the biggest mistake...i broke a small drill bit off inside of the bolt (hard Steel Drill Bit, and i can not remove it). i attempted to re-drill with a larger bit, but i am getting no where (i am thinking it is because of the hardened Steel Drill Bit stuck in there). I can not get to the other side of the bolt with a drill, so drilling from the other side is impossible...
Is there any tricks of the trade to help me get the bolt out? or am i basically screwed? I turned a small project into a cluster...please help a do it yourself mechanic trying to save money in a poor economy...thanks

take your punch and hammer, and try shattering the hardened bit.it should break,although its still gonna be fun.
