Prep work for laying vinyl tiles over laminate?

I would like to lay vinyl tiles over my existing laminate flooring. Removing the existing laminate would not be a good option as it is strongly bonded to the wood subfloor below. Can I just stick the vinyl tiles right on the laminate or should I use an additional adhesive? Is it recommended to sand the laminate or otherwise prepare the laminate surface first? Thanks in advance!

I'd remove the old floor first since any defects in it will show through into the new floor. If you use a heat gun the old tile will come up easier.
