What is the most versatile pneumatic nail gun?

I am in the market for a pneumatic nail gun for my husband. He is an avid DIYer and I watch him struggle with a hammer and nail constantly. I want to buy him a combo package deal that comes with a brad nailer, a finish nailer and the compressor.

Now dont get me wrong I know he doesnt need top of the line stuff but I dont want to buy the package and once he starts using it realize I should have bought better quality stuff. So here are some of my questions.
- Can a finish nailer be used to hang sheetrock/greenrock? I know it can be used for trim and mouldings... I just want to get him the most versatile assortment of nailers.

He will be finishing our basement and I want him to be able to do the whole job with the nailers I buy. We have a concrete foundation and he will frame out the walls then hang sheetrock or green rock, but again I dont want him to feel like he has to buy any other nailers.

Any recommnedations on specfics for the compressor? Please help

If it's a ....trim gun,.. for nailing Crown Molding, and trim,etc...what you want is one that can hold the longest possible nail(when it's needed), and the thinnest possible nail...Wire thin nails, that disappear, and leave hardly any mark.

If it's a .."Framing gun"....for framing houses, studs in a wall...You want one that shoots nails that are not clipped(the head of the nail is a full circle...and also the next nail to shoot, it's point is exposed, so that where you place that nail point, that's where it goes in the wood.

Consider ..Hitachi trim nailer's,...never mind any price difference, if any.

Sheetrock is "screwed" with a drill driver.

I personally can't stand pancake compressors, that are always running, and can't keep up with Framing Guns, get a longer hose, and have the compressor in another room or outside...
