How easy is it to replace the multi-function switch on my 1997 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer?

Specifically, do I need to remove the steering wheel with a puller or is everything easilly accessible?

Pull the steering wheel using a puller. Remove the lock plate using a lockplate compressor to get the lock ring out of your way. Both these tools can be borrowed from autozone after leaving a small deposit. Unscrew the multi-switch. trace the wires down the steering column and unplug them. Then fish them up through the column and remove. Installation is the reverve of the removal, so be sure to take note of where everything goes.
