Sometimes you need to get a job done that requires you to cut the material in strange dimensions. A good drill bit for this is a drill saw bit designed for unique contours. There are special drill bits for cutting glass and tile as well. If you decide to use a regular drill bit for these materials you will often find the material gets chipped or broken.

Having a drill bit made from the right material as well as the right style for your project will make it go faster and give you much better results. It is less time consuming to find out the right drill bit to use for your project than it is for you to blindly pick one up and try it. ???help with masonry drill bit??? wont sink more than a inch !!!what am i doing wrong????????

i am trying to fix my shed and i tor out the wood front now its time to rebuild, but sunk into the concrete floor were 1/2 inch screws that went up through the 2 by 4 that was the base of framing, so i hack sawed them flush (they had a rusted on nut) and got a masonry bit to drill in concrete in another spot but it wont go down deeper than 1 inch !!! hwat is wrong ????? iam pouring water in and around hole and nothing is working please help !!!!! also any helpfull ideas to make framing easier are greatly welcome

is that a regular thing (metal floor)this is a concrete shed floor

Depending how thick you floor is you may have re-bar imbedded. Normally this would be buried by 2 inches. You may be hitting the metal re-bar. A thin floor of 4 inches or so would have a wire mesh. So some metal in a concrete floor is normal and desired.

Using water in the hole will keep your drill bit cool and sharper longer. Try drilling in a different spot to see if its just that one location where you have a problem. If its every where that you are having problems then a hammer drill is the best way to go but you may need a bigger drill - go rent one.
